Passchendaele

I think the BBC coverage has been exemplary, its easy to knock the BBC but I think this broadcast has been excellent, as usual the armed services have been outstanding.

I have Never been to the war graves its on my bucket list, I have a great uncle buried there, KIA, Durham Light Infantry,7th June 1917 age 19.

War is Hell:(

I think I'll have to put that on my bucket list too. I've visited a number of battlefield sites in the UK, all of course much older than the 20th Century, and I'm not sure about Bosworth any more because there's some dispute about the battle site.

Northern France encompasses battles going back centuries and I can't deny I'd dearly like to wander around and visit them, old and new. The number of war graves of many nationalities there would be a very sobering experience.

I've only ever visited Arnhem in Europe near to where I have an Uncle I never met buried.

My maternal grandfather was there and suffered an injury, subsequently losing a leg.

He died in a motor-cycle accident in 1930-something………….!

I got to visit the war cemetery at Pont-au-de-mer when on an exchange trip whilst at school; very sobering to a teenager.
