Hello

Hello friends of the sea,
I may be new here, but I'm an old hand at sea. I started my career in 1960 after an apprenticeship as a metalworker and as an engine fitter at Howaldtswerke in Hamburg at the Schulte and Bruns shipping company as an assistant engineer and attended the School of Naval Engineering in Cuxhaven from 1966 to 69.
My active time ended after 30 years of sailing.
My interests lie in the exchange with all former sailors of all colours. Especially the photos from this time. I am also interested in the old windjammers from the former times. Especially the fates of the simple crew members that are never mentioned. Captains are always gloriously mentioned and were probably alone on board.
I am looking forward to a good and fruitful cooperation.

Hello Jan,
Welcome aboard.
Delighted that you have found SH.
You will find that the Gallery is open and fully working on this site.
In fact, most of the discussions revolve around the Gallery.

Enjoy the trip!

Thank you dear sailors,
Your welcome goes to my heart and I am happy to be able to exchange ideas with you.
If I make mistakes, please let me know immediately. I can always apologize and correct myself. I am so happy to find such great pictures from our time at sea together and also the many photographs of the shots taken ashore, without which seafaring could not have been documented at all. On this occasion I would like to draw special attention to Malcolm Cranfield and thank him on behalf of many people for selflessly making his wonderful historical photographs available to us all free of charge. I bring you some more surprise pictures. All from my active time and also from dear other sailors who have given me permission to publish their pictures for our pleasure.
Thanks and best wishes
Jan
