A familiar vessel, sister to some I spent many happy hours on in the 1970's. Familiar sound of the twin Gardner 6LX and 2UC gearboxes.

Western Lady III, ex RML497, is the last survivor of the Fairmile RML's that saw passenger service and is now in the Royal Navy Museum in Hartlepool undergoing preservation for permanent display.

Enjoyed the video and the steam train at 2.39
But an RN Museum in BWH? Surely some mistake.

Actually The Royal Navy Museum at West Hartlepool is very popular and well worth the visit..albeit given the present viral circumstances.

The old frigate HMS Trincomalee, Britain's oldest warship afloat is there as are several other vessels and the whole dock area is surrounded by authentic shops, sounds and smells from Nelson's time.

After the war, in that dock area, West Hartlepool hosted a lot of the mothball fleet, frigates, corvettes, including Castle class, Loch and River class etc most with sterling war service, before they were taken away one by one in the 60's for scrapping

I remember seeing the mothball fleet as a lad. We used to paddle around Hartlepool dock in canoes made from aircraft drop-tanks until a lad drowned and they were banned. My great grandfather rowed the Penny Ferry, Old Hartlepool to Middleton.
