I write the site about HMS Gambia at
http://hmsgambia.org/ and I have a bit of a mystery. It seems the more I write, the less I know.
As far as I knew, HMS Gambia was laid up at Fareham Creek, Portsmouth in December 1960, and stayed there until she was broken up at Inverkeithing in 1969.
BUT
Yesterday, I received this photo of the ship taken at Canada Branch Dock 2, Liverpool, in December 1962. It looks to be some sort of open day!
Is the date wrong? Was it normal for ships that had been put in reserve to be recrewed and used like this?
