The French fishermen have always looked at British vessels with a jaundiced eye. Due to the disputed quota system there have always been disputes over the Channel fishing grounds. I remember seeing a large crabber returning to Dartmouth with broken windows in the wheelhouse many years ago, after working grounds off the Normandy coast as was its legitimate right to do so.
The damage was done by flying hammers and adjustable wrenches, not bad weather.
Sadly, it will only continue.
