I don't think it is a daft question, but perhaps to add a little qualification, perhaps, it is more likely to affect charted depths at the estuaries of large rivers that may have built up a silt pile over the years. When affected by a quake, the built up bank can possible subside to the point of even causing a tsunami, let alone reconfiguring the bottom topography.
