Here is my Avo Valve tester that I paid £65 for on a car boot sale last year. I had to make the valveholder test panel myself to be able to use it. Got the valve test data online as the tester is no good without the AVO switch positions for specific valves. Works a treat, but it was a bit of a struggle to find someone who could tell me how to use it.
Also have an AVO eight that I got from the same car boot sale the year before. Paid £10 for that. As Bob said, you sometimes need a meter with a needle to interpret things properly, such as rippling DC giving a blurred needle. Or the reverse polatity "kickback" when testing capacitors on the Ohms range.
