Shipping in Dundee

http://photopolis.dundeecity.gov.uk/catalog/90

This is a link to photographs of ships in Dundee around turn of 19th/20th Centuries.

Some have a potted history of the vessel.

I'm sure some of them will be of interest to the sailing vessel enthusiasts on the site.

I signed on at the Dundee pool, in 1956, my first vessel was a 250ton Groningen built coaster called the “Broughty” the shipping company was the DP&L ie the Dundee Perth and London company, I was the cabin boy, we went from Dundee to London and back weekly.
I then served on another DP&L vessel in 1958 the “Dundee” especially built for the Great Lakes before the Seaway was opened, best 10 months of my life , all east coast Scots crew, 28 of a crew happy days
