Named storms(UK)

Last night we were assailed by Aileen, or some such, our first named storm of the Autumn. I experienced a lot of rain on the windows and some blustery weather when I went round the stock (not mine, I just keep an eye). My barograph did a very spectacular dip, the pen almost tore the chart. I will post a pic when I am on a better computer.
What did anyone else get?

A named storm in what in old money is still the summer, (pre-equinox.)

I hope that doesn't reflect on the coming winter ....

I drove down from Malvern to Cornwall this morning and just got sunshine and showers, pleasant run I have to say.

Storm Desmond

2015 We up in Cumbria experience the damage done by Storm Desmond, floods every where, bridges down , roads disappearing, policeman losing his life directing people from a bridge in Workington when it collapsed taking him with it ---this all happened 2 years to this month and would you believe it only half the bridges have been rebuilt but that is not all the Border ITV reported all this in 2015 and they still mention it nearly every night since it happened, you can take bets that Desmond will be mentioned in the nightly evening news--its a case at the studios "No new news tonight so mention Desmond, that will fill in quarter of an hour". --I wonder if other parts of the country are getting this news every night of the year.
