computer history

An interesting article I read today if it is true on Mail on line about how the computer touch screens were developed. It all goes back to ww2, gliders carrying bombs and carrier pigeons.

All about hungry carrier pigeons in WW 2 being trained for precision bombing using gliders carrying bomb, The pychologists kept them hungry and trained them peck at screen which displayed enemy targets exremely rapidly and keeping it going until bomb hit target. carrier pigeon training was based using behaviour therapy techniques and feeding them their favourite, henp seeds.

It almost sounds as if it could an April Fools story but wrong date.

Apparently trials seemed to work but it was decided not to go ahead with using them in case of failure and the high costs which would have been wasted.

Story below if you wish to believe it, or was it WW2 propaganda similar to eating carrots gave the pilots night vision stories so the enemy wouldn't supect radar had been developed.

Label of Mail article below

WWII project to have pigeons drop bombs led to modern touch screens
