With St. Paddy's day coming up, some make want to get involved with something ashore -- afraid that most of the attractions involve much drinking.

https://www.thrillist.com/lifestyle/...cks-day-in-nyc

Then there's the matter of costume -- perhaps it would be better to wear green rather than orange here in New York not unless we want to have a good "dust-up" with the lads.

St Paddy's Day in New York (is it then).

As Master at Arms I must introduce some security measures.

Please ensure that the Chief Engineer does not go ashore with his Lambeg Drum and fifes. They must be left on board.

Similarly, unless crew members can prove they are from the Netherlands, orange apparel will need to be left at the gangway.

These restrictions are being imposed for the crew's own safety and of course we want no problems with the transfer of burlap.

My Granny was from Belfast, most of her fighting was done with an acid tongue. I shall wear the robes of a Tibetan monk to show my peaceful disposition, and if anyone objects to the colour they can explain why in a calm and measured way, as politics always are.

I shall be wearing these robes at night in the privacy of my own cabin, I am not mad.

Saint Paddy's Day in New York. An occasion for much fun, jollity, japes, and friendly banter. Oh yes, green hair, green faces, and green beer.

And lots of fancy looking edibles all made from potato. (Or potatoe as a former Presidential candidate once insisted!)

Brought a few souveniers back from my pub crawl last night. Ash trays, beer mats and glasses, oh and a yellow car with a meter in it. well there was no one in it and I didnt fancy the long walk back. I have parked it in the dock just ahead of the ship.
Got a nice length of stainless stell pipe from a bar too. Tmac will put that to good use no doubt.
Steward! Pint of draught Guinness please.

Don't mention that car too much, West Bromwich Albion might try to sign you up to supervise their foreign "Team Bonding" exercises.

Actually Tom, it might be Pot-a-Toe. Otherwise known as Calves' Foot Jelly. (Don't ask if you don't remember it, I still shudder at the memory of the taste.)

I do think we should have a Welcome back for Sir William. Also, he will need considerable fortification if he is to attempt to catch up with the Internet, it moves pretty fast and in all directions.

I believe the traditional way to dispose of vehicles that follow you home (a euphemism) from drinking sessions is to run them into the dock. That stainless steel pole has a wonderful shine to it, it seems to have been coated with baby oil by the smell.

Plaggy stewards, rig the Tiki bar in the PAX, full run of salty snacks and such, Champers in the buckets (throw the ice out first), Sir W. has now got his full connection back, all gather to drink his very good helth and enjoyment, he will need it after having a complete refit.

In New York we need popcorn, pretzels, and peanuts for bar snacks.

(We are in New York still I hope?)

Not like three of our Canadian Winter Olympic party in South Korea who after a bit of a bar crawl, decided because it was cold, and someone had left their bright red Humvee parked, not only with the keys in the ignition, but with the motor running, that they might as well take it back to the Olympic Village a couple of blocks away.

Suffice to say the South Korean policemen are not particular long on senses of humour and laid charges of impaired driving, vehicle theft, etc., etc.

Permission to come aboard. Had Ticket re-validated and Passport renewed.
Send Sparkie down to carry up my gear, kitbag with boiler suit and boots and a portmanteau with my Mess Undress (and bottles of Bushmills 21 year old).
BTW unwilling to sleep in lazarette this trip.
