I'm Andy Lavies. I joined Bank Line in 1956 as a fifteen year old apprentice and stayed with them until 1967 when I passed Masters FG. Then I joined British Rail IOW ferries while trying to get a hovercraft job. Turned down the hovercraft when it was offered and stayed in the ferries at Lymington until retirement apart from a six month detachment as Marine Superintendent at Portsmouth head office. I live in the New Forest opposite the western end of the Isle of Wight.
