I hope its Flash Point is above 60 degrees C.
If not it'll have to be stored with the petrol and may pick up unwanted odours.

rustytrawler 30th October 2023 09:12

Eyup ES where do you get your info is it artificial insemination?

Engine Serang 1st November 2023 15:13

SOLAS.
Well worth a read at the fire on a winters night.

Malcolm G 1st November 2023 15:50

I suppose it could depend on where the fire is and what’s burning.

rustytrawler 1st November 2023 16:02

ES stays in on a wed night and plays with Sindy and Ken.

billyboy 6th November 2023 01:12

anyone have any suggestions as to where to go to. getting boring swinging round the anchor out here.

tweediekiwi 6th November 2023 01:48

Go to Carapito. My Dad went there in the 1950's and he had a great time plus two tattoos that my Mum didn't like.

YM-Mundrabilla 6th November 2023 03:26

Not a lot to see at Mundrabilla and it's a long hike from the sea.

The brain in the sky tells me there are a few Carapito's knocking about and it is also a religious organisation, what we in East Antrim need to know is it a Catholic Carapito or a Protestant one.

I have a good friends in the nobility who tells me there is a Tattoo Parlour on every street corner in Douglas and most of them manned by busty persons.

My vote is IOM unless we are already there.

billyboy 6th November 2023 07:18

cut out No 1, Lay off a course for Cork. we will start there and go round the irish ports. Relax Mr Varley we are not uncorking tawney port till the suns over the yard arm.

rustytrawler 6th November 2023 07:19

How about a ride up the muddy Humber, lots of stuff to do in ULL. We could have a quick lap round Wilberforce house and when the black boy opens go for the big drink. You may even meet a patti slapper.

Penciled in on my bucket list...LOL

Varley 6th November 2023 10:27

The sun is an obliging star. It will hop over a yardarm, somewhere, at the glug of a hat.

If we're going to stop off a home I will get a change of sock and some cat biscuit. I know of one tattoo parlour. I believe there are nail bars too. Not sure about pickaninny pages, would a Turkish barber be any good?

rustytrawler 6th November 2023 14:16

Just seen Varley on peel sea front riding his bike he was also giving a wanker gesture to a motorist.

Engine Serang 6th November 2023 22:23

I would say a case of mistaken identity and respectfully suggest you try to destroy all evidence of your rash decision to post such vile ramblings. Take Tmax advice. Disappear for a month, the caravan park the far side of Holme upon Spalding Moor is recommended and you may get advice on trading ponies.

rustytrawler 7th November 2023 08:28

I go fishing over that way, have never seen any caravans but there is a few at the land of nod just down the road. but it smells of tarmac.....The land of nod is a village near Market weighton canal, now theirs a place you have never been.

Varley 8th November 2023 01:20

Certainly not me. Last time on infernal machine came off under a wagon in Sembawang. Transport manager (ie he who was IC bicycles) angry - "Contractors told emphatically they may not run over visiting Superintendents!".

Old man ('Moritzio' Kennedy) kept me occupied the following day while ETO (Neil Long) constructed and attached training wheels. A titter ran round the dockyard (Which then included HMY alongside) when YT bicycled back to site office. With only one hand result would have been dire. One cannot enjoy the perk of Club Class if enboxed in the hold (pressurised I would hope, otherwise the corpse tends to 'leak').

Carapito, Venezuela, on the San Juan River, loading Lignum Vitae

Sorry People, I misspelled it - should have Caripito - it's up the San Juan River in Venezuela. The old boy went there in the 1950's to load lignum vitae logs for Lee Enfield to make rifle butts with in England. And, my mother corrected me, he got the tattoo in Caracas apparently. But, try a trip to Caripito. Dad was up on deck whilst they were loading logs and a blue-bottle type fly, the size of his thumb, landed on his arm and scared the hell out of him. The the ship was crawling with spiders and other jungle terrible insects all the way home. He stayed in the engine room with his steam and diesel things. Much safer.

Engine Serang 8th November 2023 07:43

Big port, Rotterdam and Antwerpen will be keeping an eye on them.

In days of yore, when I was an Apprentice, lignum vitae was used for water cooled stern tube bearings. Lots of fun in drydock.

Tmac1720 8th November 2023 17:00

I do NOT disappear for months on end, I retreat to my saloon under the ER deck plates and contemplate the meaning of life and imbibing on copious amounts of the "falling down water" My presence in the Injun room is not required as one has minions to undertake routine operations and maintenance. Squeek and Eric do the work while ES wanders about like the lost soul he is.

I will remind you crew type persons I is the Chef Injuneer (even if I can't spell it) how many of you old sea dogs can remember a chief ever setting foot in the injun room?

They were used by camel herders to encourage the beasts to drink their fill. We called them staves.

Tmacs in a moody again. Stay well clear of the engine room guys!

Engine Serang 9th November 2023 06:49

Is there a beast of the field that he hasn't squirreled down the bilges?

rustytrawler 9th November 2023 15:14

Is Tmac fit for purpose, i think he has lost the plot i noticed a bite on his neck could it have been one of his pet bats. if he sneezes run for it.

billyboy 9th November 2023 22:34

I have a special pass to enter the Engine room. However I will not go down there till things calm down a bit. Steward! a case of Black bush to the engine room on the double.

Varley 11th November 2023 13:22

That is not the approved usage of a crocodile clip.

Could our worthy guesstimators have asked the ECDIS for Caiman instead of Cayman? Or has Tmac adopted a weirder than usual choice of emotional support animal?

billyboy 12th November 2023 07:00

Its a useful creature, handy for fetching shifters up from the bilge.

Engine Serang 12th November 2023 07:02

Watched a programme on Eden Channel during the week, I thought Eden was all about the 10 most venomous critters in Australia and fishes with pointy teeth, but no, it was about U124 and the sinking of H&W 436 the Justicia and there was an old shipmate giving impressive commentary on the ship. Well done.

billyboy 20th November 2023 07:45

getting near time to Batten down lads we will be crossing the bay tomorrow afternoon.

Engine Serang 20th November 2023 09:20

One of Saga's cruise ships took a bit of a battering recently. I'll batten down the machinery spaces and the Noble Lord will look after the Wardroom Wine.
Where TF are we headed?

rustytrawler 20th November 2023 10:30

HULL, gwenap, and then up to Goole to meet the Goolies

billyboy 20th November 2023 22:06

Cork first stop for bunkers the down along the South coast turn left after Dover and tour the East coast ports. Oh and check Rusty Trawler out. he said something having a problem with his Goolies.

Engine Serang 21st November 2023 07:03

He'll get a size 10 in them if he insists on gwenap, the mucky bugger.
And I'll go no further up the river than Hessle, tie up at Richard Dunston's.

rustytrawler 21st November 2023 08:09

If we don't go into gwenap can we stop and look into their shop window, we could go to spiders and pick up a patti slapper? or how about dinner at pickadish.

Engine Serang 21st November 2023 09:05

Dinner; As Second Engineer Officer on the GD II I do not queue up at a counter with a tray and be issued with "Cottage Pie and Chips"

One wonders if "Pickadish" offers Silver Service.

As for the Patti Slappers i'll leave them to Tmax and BB who are partial to a bit of "Rough".

rustytrawler 21st November 2023 09:42

How about a trip up to Scarbados so that Varley can have a game of bingo and buy a duffle coat from one of the many charity shops

Malcolm G 21st November 2023 10:25

Scarbados - Another one of God’s waiting rooms, allegedly.
