If you want to emulate the people of Donald’s imagination then you need to be second generation immigrants with mental health issues and the pet needs to be freshly killed with the fur still on.
Goat? Don’t you cook that as you would mutton?
Cod? Try the frozen food aisle at your local supermarket - dunno where it comes from though.
Maybe your cod are like my goldfish and prefer to hide under floating objects, like bottles.

billyboy 14th September 2024 12:02

Just bought a pair of shoes and a nice suitcase from the Bum Boat man.

Go see Tmac he has a large tub of blue unction down below. that'll fix you up Rusty.

tweediekiwi 15th September 2024 05:18

Can we please borrow Israels Iron Dome system if we have to pass them hamas and hooteys. I was bombed once and don't want it to happen again.
Billy Boy, I've just applied for the position of Fools Mate in Chess, so, I'll see if I get that first.
If not, I'll apply for some slippery role like assistant grease-monkey's mate.

rustytrawler 15th September 2024 09:15

A US ship has just come alongside the crew are all looking hungry, so it's best to lock up the ships pet cat, they can have the dog as it bit me. have you ever tried dogs trotters?

billyboy 16th September 2024 01:55

Theres about 20 cases of canned Anchovys in No 2 hold. swing them aboard the US Ship.

billyboy 19th September 2024 20:40

Hi guys. seems I am back in again. Had trouble logging in for a few days (I never log out). Just gonna check up on things now. I will be on the 8 - 12 watch.

Malcolm G 19th September 2024 21:21

When you tick ‘stay logged in’ and it doesn’t, just clear your search history particularly cookies if an option, log in again and it should work ok.

billyboy 20th September 2024 11:48

that seemed to work as it had logged me out again. Thanks for that Malcom

billyboy 20th September 2024 23:26

Logged me out again this morning. takes lots of messing around to get back in.
May have to delete this site if its not sorted soon.
cant be doing with all the messing about with it at this end. too old for the hassle.

tweediekiwi 23rd September 2024 01:40

BillyBoy, it sounds like you have a problem with the saved passwords in yout browser ...
In your browser screen (I'm presuming Google or similar), go to the the three vertical dots on the top right of the screen and left click on them. A menu will appear.
Left click on Settings, then
Select Auto-fill from the menu on the left, then
Select Password Manager, then
Scroll down to the entry, or entries, for shippinghistory.com, then
Left click on each each entry in turn and press the delete key.
Close the Settings tab, then
Re-login to shippinghistory.com and when asked to save password, click Yes.
I hope that fixes it for you.
If not, call over the side and buy a new laptop from the bum boat boys!

billyboy 23rd September 2024 04:08

still having problems. something wrong somewhere. rejects password. I click on New password box, with my email address on it, press send and it rejects that as well. once it has done that I click on forums and I am logged in again. Weird!!

YM-Mundrabilla 23rd September 2024 05:34

I agree - something is going on with logins.
I am usually always logged in but today this was not the case. The user name auto filled in but the password did not and I had to search high and low for my password.
The 'remember me' box was always ticked.
Presumably the old steam v electric saying will apply:
  • Steam - five seconds to find the problem and a week to fix it.
  • Electric - a week to find the problem and five seconds to fix it'.
A further problem is that the site is now showing as 'Not Secure'.

YM-Mundrabilla 23rd September 2024 05:42

Just switched to another site and back again - same problem - logged out / not secure / need find password.

YM-Mundrabilla 23rd September 2024 05:55

Tried again just now - all seems OK re login, password and security all working at the moment!

Malcolm G 23rd September 2024 08:40

Similar problem encountered last week but only on one of my devices and cleared as per my suggestion above - all OK since.

billyboy 23rd September 2024 23:25

hate it when there is a problem. I loose the gist of things (well at 82 i suppose thats normal).
who is up in that driving room? who is driving? how are things down below in that noisy place? wheres that nice boy with the white outfit with my morning coffee? oh so many things to catch up on. where are we going? last I heard we were heading for the suet channel.

YM-Mundrabilla 24th September 2024 00:21

Me too BB and I am only 81.
If I can see the wheels turning and the piston rods going in/out or up/down I am soothed.
We have been leaderless for a few days with you offline so no idea as to whither we are bound. ES had a go at steering but he had the chart upside down and was forcibly returned to the ER which is, of course, his appointed place of fun. It was eerily quiet down here without him as everything was running like a Swiss watch.

tweediekiwi 24th September 2024 01:18

Maybe it's just me, being a datacomm engineer, but my login is working fine with the 'remember me' turned on.
I feel like a kid here with you octogenarian gentlemen as I just turned 71 today.
I can steer for a while if you like, but as with the last posting, the wheel and the chart will be upside down due to my low geographical position - E 176 deg 2' S 40deg 32'. And, if we're in the Muddle East, I'd be steering away from there at speed. Surely a peaceful trip over the Atlantic would be better, catch some sun in the Caribbean, drink rum out of half a pineapple at a beach bar and watch the oily sunbathers getting sand stuck all over themselves.

YM-Mundrabilla 24th September 2024 04:45

At least now we know not to bother you in the unlikely event that we should throw a rod but you will be handy to know should one of our dodgy internet 'entertainment' sites fail.

Engine Serang 24th September 2024 10:51

Just home after a trip on the fast and commodious ship "Oasis of the Seas". If I hear anymore tripe talked about blocks of council flats I will not be responsible for my actions.

I'll re-join tomorrow, where the hell are youse?

rustytrawler 24th September 2024 11:14

If you were looking for "fast" you could have hired a scooter in Dublin town centre and then you would have seen the whole world in one day.....Nobody knowes where we are so how are you going to get there?

Engine Serang 24th September 2024 13:22

I'll find youse because I don't know where I'm starting from.

YM-Mundrabilla 25th September 2024 00:28

Login problem of not remembering and site showing as 'not secure' have emerged again this morning (25/9) Oz eastern States time.

tweediekiwi 25th September 2024 00:32

YM, I could undo crankcase door bolts, I could standby with the next tool you need and have an oily rag to wipe your fevered brow with. I can pull the chain on a come-along and help pull pistons too. Just because I worked in IT doesn't mean I'm no good at the manual work. I quite enjoy it and I've been collecting my own firewood since I arrived here in '82. Nothing better that using a chainsaw and splitting axe out in the fresh air after a day stuck in the air-conditioned hell of a computer room.
ES - that Oasis sounds nice. Did you lie beneath the palms, eating dates and being mesmerised by belly dancers.
Anyone seen Varley? Or has the IOM sunk beneath the waves? That Dali is going to China to be fixed and the cause was a loose wire to a breaker according to gCaptain website. Maybe the venerable Marconi Man could explain how that came about?

tweediekiwi 25th September 2024 00:34

Oh, and any IT/PC problems you have that I may be able to help with, I'm more than willing.

billyboy 25th September 2024 23:00

I just been up top. No one in the driving cab. Ecdis is working and the Radars are clear.
Galley is deserted (must get a cook). theres a Rat, Squirrel and ferret manning the noisy place below. cigar smoke and empty Tawney bottles Oozing out of the radio shack.
only sign of life is in the crew bar (normal for this ship)
plenty of pencil lines on the map thingy and it seems we are going WxN 3/4 North wherever that is.
Steward! full English with a fresh coffee pot and dont forget the bottle of Pussers.

tweediekiwi 26th September 2024 00:21

So, I was right, the Golden 'Marie Celeste' Dreamer is uncontrolled in it's random voyage. I'll just stick to Royal Navy rules - If it moves, Salute it, if it stands still, paint it. I'm having trouble applying this boot topping while we're at sea though ... any ideas?

YM-Mundrabilla 26th September 2024 01:49

Sail through a lake of paint, perhaps?

tweediekiwi 26th September 2024 05:09

Can't do that without causing more pollution than the GD emits anyway. I think I'll just capsize it. That seemed to work for a billionair's yacht recently. Ok, make fast everything loose on board, except your morals, and on the count of three, everyone turn over.

Varley 27th September 2024 18:15

Trust the boy kept the radioroom and my workshop up to scratch while I was away on a spot of luncheoning leave. Almost broke the five hours last Thursday (16 Ex Supers and Ship manager types) Lamp swung so mightily that it will surely still be useless to read-by the time the next one is called.

Any complaints, see me and I'll have the boy keelhauled (not for missing lamps, time you learned to change those yourselves).

Engine Serang 27th September 2024 20:58

If it moves, salute it; if it doesn’t move, pick it up; and if you can’t pick it up, paint it. –
I'll just stick to Royal Navy rules.

If you stuck to Royal Navy rules there would be an extra bit on the end something like:- and if you can't ****** it, f*** it.

My Kiwi friend sometimes I get the feeling you are too gentlemanly for this way of life. We are all hairy arsed seamen with a touch of the gutter about us, so you must start smoking, drinking to excess and practise your inner loucheness. Let this be the first day of the rest of your life.

Engine Serang 27th September 2024 21:23

I recall many years ago being at a similar Seminar with Engine Supers. The Deck Supers were a bit miffed they weren't invited or hadn't the wit to organise one of their own so they had a competition to come up with a collective noun for a group of Engine Supers. The usual words appeared, a flock, a herd, a crew, a troupe but the winner was;-

A nuisance of Engineer Superintendents.

Who said the Deck Department lacked a sense of humour.

rustytrawler 28th September 2024 09:34

Eyup ES I have a complaint to make, the radio man has let me down big time, bookies cursing cars reversing i had the bottle of smoke. He did not put the bet on.

Malcolm G 28th September 2024 10:39

Ah yes, smoking - I stopped some years since but I was the type of smoker who created a firestorm when I inhaled. Cigarettes, cigars, pipes…
I ceased for the usual reasons;
Health and wellbeing
The smell on my clothing which permeated the entire wardrobe.
The shunning and shouting when one lit up in the ‘wrong’ place.
Oh, and shoreside prices may have had a significant influence.

Varley 28th September 2024 14:35

I have just seen those remarks. I won't keel haul the little beast for missing the ship tax on your BLT (betting-letter-telegram) as the administration doesn't allow them (but for small donation to Mrs Varley's Fund for sailor-boy sons .....). What I will have the little sod for is broaching the Tawny while 'in charge' and being caught at it. The next thing you'll be reporting is that my stash of left handed literature has been raided.

Varley 28th September 2024 14:38

E-S,
1) just about everyone, I think.
2) You had more than one deck super?
