Sounds like we might get porridge made with llamas' milk for breakfast tomorrow -- along with some finnan haddie. 'Twer Coastie here he would be wearing his kilt, sporran, etc..

billyboy 15th July 2017 10:38

I knew an Egyptian man who came over here started a farm. He had LLamas! he felt so sorry for them shivering in the cold so he kitted them out in his old Pyjamaas. You must have heard about hin from the papers "Egyption farmer in Llama Pyjama drama"....I'll just get my coat.

Farmer John 15th July 2017 17:13

Varley, how did you fare in this?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-euro...f-man-40568444

I know you have been training in secret, but I believe you are highly tipped to win, and your Nautical leaning should have helped.

Farmer John 15th July 2017 17:14

Sir William, everyone is allowed to make jokes, but do not ask for laughter, as a refusal often offends.

Varley 16th July 2017 00:46

I am excluded (Too much Ethanol onboard to be carried in a single hulled vessel).

billyboy 16th July 2017 02:23

Ah now life is grand to be sure....Beautiful day, calm sea, crew in good humor, Bar operating efficiently.... Perfik!!

Farmer John 16th July 2017 22:37

I agree Sir William, anyone coming water skiing? I'll watch and throw a lifebelt.

billyboy 16th July 2017 23:58

let one of the plasticos over the wall and lets give him a treat. and stand by with the gaff hook. I think we may be in for Shark steaks for tonights meal.

Tom Alexander 17th July 2017 00:07

The cruise ship the "World" has been docked in my home port of Nanaimo for the last couple of days. Feel sorry for the passengers -- they pay $1,000,000 plus for their residence, and then a similar annual fee for maintenance of the vessel.

Check it out here: http://aboardtheworld.com/experience/

Us lot on the GD has all they have and more, and it doesn't cost us a cent. :pint:

Phuket tomorrow --- New supply of Blue ointment available in the sick bay! :smoking:

Farmer John 17th July 2017 17:33

Phuket sounds like a warmer version of Glasgow on a Saturday night in the 1960s. I think we should go ashore in pairs, with some sort of "door knobs in a sock" provision.

billyboy 18th July 2017 01:27

Billiard ball in a sock works well Farmer John. Lead with the left hand holding your green river knife. while threatening with right fist. while they are trying to gaze at your two hands apply steel tocaps to testicles....scrap over

Tmac1720 18th July 2017 15:52

One finds in such circumstances a flogging spanner deployed from the inside leg of ones boiler-suit has the desired deterrent effect, especially when applied to any exposed flesh. :smoking:

I must confess Sire I have never located my balls, Billiard or otherwise in my sock :bounce: Is some comforting sensation to be gained from such practice?

Use a cotton one in preference to a woollen one. (I am not speaking from personal experience, only passing on information gleaned when trawling for information on the International electronic net thingy.)

billyboy 19th July 2017 01:22

only when you pull it out as a weapon Tmac.

Isnt it great to have a smart Engineer aboard. I asked him what an insulated screw was and he said "a wren in rubber boots"

A common complaint -- too much blood in the alcohol stream! :pint:

Tom Alexander 19th July 2017 04:25

Red: You said you would like to go to India and we settled on Chittagong, which strictly speaking is in Bangladesh ---- However we can carry on to where ever hour heart desires after.

As I sit at my computer, my Green River knife is 2 feet away, to my left. My Steel toe-capped boots are in a convenient place close bye.

Thank you for that Tom, I was beginning to think that nobody knew I was back on board.:egg: Bangladesh is fine Tom, it is in the general area of India. By the way Skipper we seem to have some feral Llamas on the garden deck, have they been properly vetted since their arrival. You can't be too careful, we don't want any strange outbreaks among the crew.

billyboy 20th July 2017 01:36

Radison Bay Hotel looks worth a visit Tom. food is good and the air conditioned rooms look good too. Maybe use it as an overnight base eh?

Best way to treat the llamas is after they have been shorn, their hair can be made into rope which can then be wormed, parcelled and served. (That should get rid of the worms, anyway!) :bounce::bounce:

billyboy 20th July 2017 10:14

Ummmm well yeah .... Llamas got worms ummmmm parcel.....serve... errrrrr Ummmmm What was the question again?

Pay attention billyboy. I only asked if they had been vetted, not sure why Tom was talking about shearing them and then treating them for worms. Do we know if they have worms? If they do wouldn't we be best to use the worms for fishing, rather than eating. Hmmm, what has Tom been drinking?

billyboy 20th July 2017 13:41

drinking.....Thats it!!

Steward!...Bottle of four bells please !

Yes, I think we can stay here overnight (or two) A bit up-market for us -- clean sheets on the beds and place mats and knives AND forks to eat with. :)

There is a limit to how much it is useful to post on a forum such as this, the definitive version is published annually, rather like Wisden or Hansard.

The llamas do not require worming, the matter is routinely dealt with when they change their pyjamas before coming down the stairs and certainly before they are permitted to chase any teddybears.

As is the case with bananas, one would not want to be taken unawares.

First round is on me.

billyboy 21st July 2017 23:10

whisper whisper.....cake...... whisper whisper.........

Ok, all laid up Steward. Right ring down and get old scabby knuckles up here.

Here he comes..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU....
lADIES AND GENTLEMAN, A TOAST TO OUR WORTHY CHIEF ENGINEER!!

A case of Black Bush to help you celebrate Tmac. all the best to you mate.

Farmer John 22nd July 2017 10:17

Tmac, a man held in high regard wherever they hoist a bumper to the gods of dark oily things, I salute you and your marvellous Injuns.

Happy Birthday, your present is this marvellous oak replica of a con rod from our very own original engines that you whittled so many years ago. I bet you thought that had gone, but we located it and had it polished up.

billyboy 22nd July 2017 13:01

Beautiful Farmer John....French Polished too!
He likes anything French I heard so he will treasure it for ever.

Tmac!....Many many more Birthdays to come good sir.

Varley 22nd July 2017 14:55

I don't like to carp on such an auspicious occasion (have as many more, Tmac, as you wish yourself) but Whittle'd engines don't have con rods and nor do Messrs Pratt's and Whiney's they do have 'wheels' and often enclosures into which one's Chief Engineer can push one when one hasn't tightened a connection or two one should have (but only at standby Full Ahead, anything else would have alarmed Mrs. Varley and her little boy).

Tmac1720 22nd July 2017 15:33

Thank you shipmates one and all for the good wishes. I shall raise a glass or three of Black Bush in your honour this evening as "she who must be obeyed" treats me to some epicurean delights at dinner tonight (probably fish and chips wrapped in newspaper :jester: yum yum)

I shall treasure the polished con rod as a cherished keepsake, I always wanted a connector with a big knob on the end :hippy:

billyboy 23rd July 2017 01:18

enjoy your celebration Tmac. I'llm stand the 12 till 4 watch for you mate.

Red-17 23rd July 2017 05:51

Happy Birthday Tmac

Happy birthday with many more ahead of you. I promise to be kind to you over the next twelve months and will even come down to the injun room and keep all your nobs well polished and cleaned. :flowers:

You have far too much time on your hands Tom Alexander, surely Mrs Tom has a list of chores for you. Doesn't really give me a solution to the worming of Llamas. By the way, I have been meaning to ask, if we have enough room on the garden/farm deck might we add a few goats?

For anyone that is interested, and is spending Sunday on board, I will be doing a Roast Lamb dinner with all the trimmings followed by an old fashioned trifle made with some beautiful sherry that I discovered in one of the old lockers. Please let me know if you would like to partake. :eat_arrow:
