Tmacs OK. He is a very busy man down there as he has to work out fuel consumptions, Draught Guinness tank to monitor apart from the black bush. and he has to feed and keep an eye on squeak. nd when he has nothing to do theres a very complicated maintainance program to keep up.
He will be up to visit the bar for crews beer up tonight Couple of pints and he will be off back down below as usual.

As for showing my face on deck, I have no interest in where we are going as I content myself in simply getting us there however I do make the occasional foray into the officers lounge despite being pilloried for leaving a trail of oily marks on the furniture. :(

Red 17, you have to understand many of us are involved in Nautical Tasks. I, for example, am working towards putting ships in bottles. My first task is to get the bottles, and I have been working towards this for some time.

Tmac is, I believe, interested in making miniature working models of engines. He started with a one ton billet of steel, and from that he has made a cotter pin, a magnificent task well undertaken. He is probably working on getting a good collection of photos of models, of all descriptions. A great man. It was well said of Isambard Brunel that "he is a great man with a 10 inch file" by one of his working engineers.

So solly Red we have contracted to go to Taipei -- some secretive, probably underhand, illegal delivery of something for which we get paid hansomely -- it's the way we manage to keep an unlimited supply of Dom and other stuff. We can lock you in your cabin with a few cases of Dom Perignon in jeroboams if you wish. We can also send you your victuals in the hidden dumb waiter until you surface. Mind you, I don't think we will be long in Taipei --- rumour has it that the bars and clubs there are somewhat mediocre -- not up to the low standards of us lot.

Mind you, if we can rouse Pats, you could go ashore for some shopping -- I suspect Pats still has Sir Williams titanium credit card. :supercool:

Pickled up the pilot -- now safely esconced alongside in Taipei. As soon as the gangway was ashore a jitney pulled up and collected our lead container -- It was accompanied by a truck which left a tun of considerable weight for us to load. It is now safely stowed in the #3 hatch starboard deep tank. Upon close inspection it is as agreed full of gold dust in canvas bags. That should be enough to keep us in food, booze, cigars, fuel, and soap. (Soap can come in very handy as a bartering instrument in some places!) :angel::angel:

I find gold dust can be exchanged for many things in many places too, but it does lack the common touch needed in some establishments.

One goes into certain establishments just to have a common touch - they generally do require a bit of something convertible.

why dont we have a Quay party for a change?...Invite a few locals...table full of snacks and a Bar-B-Q. It would keep them off the ship as they could pee in the dock and the stewards would get some much needed exercise running up and down the gangway fetching booze,

Great idea Sir William -- need to get some security cable to lock the table and the BBQ to the dock if we wish to use them again at a later date.

Might be an idea to inviite some of the young nursing students from the local university -- give them a night out -- maybe we could even lure Red from her cabin to help us explain the lure of the sea. :bounce_angel:
