She is one of my favourites, and she does a lot of film soundtrack music. Gladiator, Layer Cake, Blackhawk Down to name just a few.

They used this one on the horror film 'The Mist' which has one of the most horrific endings I've ever seen in a film.

I am not familiar with the films 'Layer Cake' or 'The Mist' and did not see 'Gladiator' or 'Blackhawk Down', the story line was one that was well known to me and I just could not face watching it on the big screen. 'The Mist' has me intrigued although I am not good with horror stories, I've been told that I scream to much and very loudly.

Don't think my neighbours would appreciate my behaviour if I were to be able to get hold of a DVD of said film.

Tomorrow however I will be visiting my local CD business to try and track down some of her recordings.

Well the soundtrack from Gladiator is a classic. She does a track called 'Aria' on Layer Cake. If you want a quick listen lots of these appear on YouTube.

Variety it certainly is, although I cannot find any information about Lord Niarchou Mericha. Can you enlighten me please Naytikos.

Whew! Thank goodness for that, I was a bit worried there for a minute.

Naytikos 23rd January 2018 02:58

I've been island-hopping for a few days; was going to offer a translation but it can wait a while as I'm off again on Wednesday. Back next weekend……...

erimus 23rd January 2018 22:06

Hmmmm.....when will this end??

Geoff

Malcolm G 23rd January 2018 22:12

Think of it as 'Who will blink first?' in reverse.

Who will blink last perhaps....

Farmer John 23rd January 2018 22:33

I predict it will end in 2025, last few months, when Bob Clay loses his password for the site in a freak thunderstorm.

Over to you, Bob.

BobClay 23rd January 2018 23:17

There's a password ?

(It would explain why this computer keeps calling me Dave ….. :smoking:)

BobClay 23rd January 2018 23:20

Maybe it'll end in this year …..

Well, that was a blast from the past. Now that song will be rattling around in my brain for the remainder of the day. :brain:

Maybe you need some classic 'Vietnam era' rock instead?

Fantastic stuff, really brought back memories for me. Thank you Erimus.

How the hell have I suddenly found 2 Girl Guide whistles, one on my bedside table? One I can account for...

Malcolm G 2nd February 2018 11:52

Girl Guides? That sounds like some sort of veiled admission of something.

'They' will now be on your case, it doesn't matter how many years ago 'it never happened'.:(

[QUOTE=Farmer John;11356]How the hell have I suddenly found 2 Girl Guide whistles ...

Do they work like dog whistles? If so, I would have appreciated one when I was in the Scouts. Now it is too late, I'm afraid.

Alas, I have blown and blown and nothing and no-one turned up, not even a Brown Owl.

One has the Regd. No. 9494339 and the other one has no registration details. I have always known I had one, the appearance of another one has me baffled. Perhaps the blowing is calling in other whistles. There is an Acme thunderer in the house somewhere, I haven't seen it for ages.

The one that has just turned up seems to have taken away my Grandfather's telescope, I thought I knew where it was and went to get it to clutch whilst watching a programme about Nautical Matters, it wasn't there.

BobClay 3rd February 2018 11:33

When I was in the scouts the local girl guide troop down the road were terrifying. I think they were all descended from Boudicca.

When camping they stomped around Cannock Chase like SS Stormtroopers terrifying the locals and wild life. You blew a whistle to call them and it was the last thing you would ever blow … (if you get my drift.)

Farmer John 3rd February 2018 15:44

When I was in the Scouts, we didn't know that Guides existed. Perhaps in another county?

Naytikos 10th February 2018 01:51

Having been out of this world for a couple of weeks (but it seems like yesterday…..) I observe a marked meeting of the minds/threads.
I'm eagerly awaiting the re-appearance of Farmer John's Boatswain's Pipe, which may have metamorphosed into a whistle of female gender. I believe FJ may have the intent that the said musical device (not really an instrument as such) will now manifest itself as a summoning call for the true believers on the Flat Earth thread in the other dimension.

In the unlikely event that anyone is holding their breath awaiting the translation I promised in pre-historic times: please wait a little longer until I reach the bottom of the gin bottle.
