subterfuge and chicanery.... sacked those two scoundrels years ago... both of them thought a flogging spanner was a sexual instrument.... about as much use in the injun room as a glass hammer. :smoking:

Quite often when we visit a port, there are indeed prams, and sometime angry mothers and fathers with shot-guns, but in this case we have never been to Santo Domingo before. :king:

No glass hammer?? You mean you don't have any rubber nails down there? :supercool:

Tom Alexander 30th November 2017 05:23

Here we are -- entering the channel -- prepare to turn short round and starboard tie by the custom's house. :)

billyboy 30th November 2017 05:55

Oh! ...I thought getting tied up with local customs meant something entirely different!

Not to worry, Time enough for that later.

We do use that term at sea -- I always thought it was an acronym for "Any Woman On Land" (usually followed by "will do"). Remember that this is the Golden Dreamer, so that do not really think that way --- we are usually very respectful especially to the distaff members of our crew, so you are perfectly safe aboard. (If you want.)

I do think, that in the absence of Pats, Sister Eleff, and the C.E.D., that you could easily persuade Sir William to loan you his Titanium credit card to go shopping in Santo Domingo. Seriously, there's so many interesting places to see here. :) I would be pleased to act as your personal guide, but if you want to see the cathedral you'll have to wear a dress below your knees (the hem that is!) They don't allow shorts in there.

For the rest of the crew, the local beer "Presidente" is cheap and plentiful.

McCloggie 30th November 2017 07:29

Approaching Santo Domingo.

Tannoy:

"D'you hear there. MAA speaking. Close up to Harbour Stations. Cutouts muster fore and aft. Assume Damage Control State ..... oh wait a minute - we don't have to do that on this ship."

"Assume normal state with appropriate drinks to view the entry to Santo Domingo".

I perceive you are starting to catch on McCloggie, that operating the GD in a state of complete sobriety is not only considered anti-social, but also an impediment to the safe handling of the vessel. Safe docking party in the pax lounge immediately after the all fast and FWE is logged in the book --- (it's got to be somewhere !)

First round on me. :pint:

A bit like the RNR then!!!

If not required I will head for the lounge and get things set up.

billyboy 1st December 2017 08:37

Hmm we have stopped moving! must be alonside. Best I head for the PAX lounge for a livener.

Varley 1st December 2017 18:31

Where is Tmac? I heard he had visited SN to recover a spanner or two. Not fallen in the works by any chance?

billyboy 1st December 2017 22:26

some new highly technical device he has invented under the plates Varley. He is very busy recalculating and adjusting it.

Dartskipper 1st December 2017 22:41

That explains the loud hammering noises, and occasional rustic language, then.

billyboy 2nd December 2017 01:44

Its actually a device for ...... Oh no I cant tell you. Secret stuff down there see!
Suffice it to say that if he gets a patent on it , it will rock the world of engineering.

billyboy 2nd December 2017 06:16

As we are all here, Happy Birthday to Dartskipper!!....Lets make it a day to remember lads.

McCloggie 2nd December 2017 06:25

I'll drink to that! Where are we going to take him?

Happy Birthday DS.

EGGSACTLY! :pint: :pint:

billyboy 2nd December 2017 08:38

Right Tom, we need a suitable bar for our Birthday Boy (Dartskipper) to let his hair down for tonight.

Dartskipper 2nd December 2017 10:17

Many thanks shipmates. As long as it isn't an iron bar from the injuneers department, then may I suggest any bar with some musical entertainment, some attractive bar staff (not of the Plastico variety !) and a good selection of beverages will be fine to start with. A birthday should be celebrated in as many bars as possible in the amount of time available on the day.

Cheers!:pint:

billyboy 2nd December 2017 12:07

drink up lads, My shout.

Psssssst! Miss, i want 2 girls to help that man over there celebrate hid Birthday. Put it on my tab will you.

Farmer John 2nd December 2017 16:36

I'll chip in to double your order, Sir William.

Don't want him to be lonely,

Varley 2nd December 2017 18:53

Oh. I'll join in a birthday bash. Just tell me when it's my shout.

billyboy 2nd December 2017 21:48

Miss I dont want to see him with an empty glass. Keep him topped up and tell those girls to gibve him a real welcome

McCloggie 3rd December 2017 01:53

A great bar - good drink, great girls and the music is good too.

I SAID A GOOD BAR - DRINK, GIRLS AND MUSIC AS WELL. PITY IT IS SO LOUD!

McC

Tom Alexander 3rd December 2017 06:20

Here, Farmer John --- not quite like Four Bells, but the local rum, Brugal, has a distinctive flavour(and the same alcohol content). Drink up -- I have ordered another four bottles.

billyboy 3rd December 2017 09:25

Iam having a go at the Local Bacardi stuff, Not bad with a dash of coke in it. Let me try a drop of what you got Tom
sip!....gulp....Hmmm not bad at all Tom!

Miss! please bring me a couple of bottles of this local rum.
I see Dart skipper is enjoying himself. Them girls have him stripped down to his Boxer shorts already ha ha ha

McCloggie 3rd December 2017 12:02

How strange!

The more of the local Bacardi I drink the better the music sounds and the loudness seems to be more acceptable!

Do we need to move on?

Hang on - I seem to be down to the boxers as well! Better stay for another one I think!

McC

Dartskipper 3rd December 2017 12:20

Thish party ish really going rather well, don't you agree? hic!!! Yesh, I don't mind at all if you pour me another one, in both my glasses pleash. Oh, you mean there'sh only one glass? Shtrange, I'm shure I can see two on the table. Never mind girls, there are four of you aren't there? I've lost count of faces and hands, musht be shumthink in thish local rum. Hic!

billyboy 3rd December 2017 13:21

Varley, take a picture of Dartskipper will you please. he wont believe it in the morning without Photogtaphic evidence.
He never quite got into such an advanced state of inebriation in Paignton heh heh

Dartskipper 3rd December 2017 14:02

Hic...you never drank in the Prince Regent then ?? Hic.....

Malcolm G 3rd December 2017 15:44

Gosh, here you all are - It reminds me of Shake's Place in Paignton, back in the 70s - Pity it closed but you can't wonder.
Belated wishes for many more to come Roy! - Birthdays that is.....

Varley 3rd December 2017 16:02

It's all right, a plastico will oblige. They are all wearing lapel camera's and microphones. Something to do with a pinched bottom and knee squeeze I understand (maybe that counts as obliging too?).

Tmac1720 3rd December 2017 17:03

I couldn't understand what all the complaining about the noise was about as I found the bar very quiet then I remembered I still had my ear muffs on :brain: nothing quite as good as the feeling of a warm muff around the ears :big_tongue:

Farmer John 3rd December 2017 17:20

Oh, Tmac, what better way to drift of to sleep.

Farmer John 3rd December 2017 17:53

Dartskipper, was your current apparel that which you were issued with on your natal occurrence?

Or do you always wear pink?

That's an unfortunate consequence of leaving a red sock in the washing machine.

Cheers Malcolm, grab a bevvy at the bar and join the happy throng. Just put it on the tab, Sir William has unlimited credit here apparently. I'm surprised John B of the Coral Star hasn't arrived yet. Unlike him to miss out on a good party.

I think he is roaming around Nassau harbour, singing with the rest of them.

billyboy 3rd December 2017 22:11

Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas. It lies on the island of New Providence, with neighbouring Paradise Island accessible via Nassau Harbour bridges.....Hmmmmm seems like John is in a good spot!....wonder if theres enough water to get the golden dreamer alongside at low water?

Tom I will get busy planning our Christmas lay up and bottom scrub. Not easy finding a dry dock this time of year. had to pay out triple price last year to get them to work.
