A New Jigsaw
|
Thanks, Neville. I will have to try it on another computer - My main one has been "Corporatized" and access is denied.
Rgds. Dave |
It is the Waverley!
Thanks! Rgds. Dave |
Dave,
Thank - yes Waverly - I will have to find something a bit harder! Neville |
|
Queen Mary 2.... there must be a fault in my computer as the puzzle appeared completed
|
I didn't initially try as it required an offsite signing in (wouldn't normally elect for more "social Media" exposure). Tried after your post, Tom, and get the same. David V

Sorry about that. Will see if I can find another site without the log in. It came up to me completed as well.

Just experimenting to see what happens:

Geoff,
Yes that's fine - I have just joined this puzzle site and had one to upload but found that my info came up at the bottom of the page. Just tried on my wife's Ipad and it was OK and info not shown. So will leave uploading it until yours has been completed. Neville |

You go for it with yours. Mine was only a quickly grabbed pic as an experiment. Being from down under it is probably a bit esoteric. ICS Reliance at Port Melbourne on 3 April 2017 BC (before Covid). I have quite a few pics of all sorts on Jigsawplanet and enjoy the site but there is also some weird stuff there too. Geoff  |
Geoff,
OK will do - finished yours in 50.37 mins. Neville |
Well done those men. Now it is just the old problem of identifying. Nowhere can I find a funnel emblem of gules winged pig rampant in azure field.
|
From one of my photos - ship bound Avonmouth.

I have two bottom lefts, swap anyone? (also suspect vessel approaching Avonmouth like Flipper on a promise).
Now I get it - didn't see the banner at the top. Using the mousewheel one can alter the orientation of pieces. Does that make it twice as four times as difficult or is it a power of 4? Not that much more difficult surprisingly. Vega something. |
David,
I can adjust the number of pieces to increase the difficulty. Will up them for another I have in mind. The ship is the VEGA PHILIPP. You can adjust various things using the menu. Neville |
Here is todays offering - again ship inbound for Avonmouth. I have increased pieces.

Thank you Neville much more difficult and entertaining.
|
Sea manageable, ships straightforward, sky a real ball-breaker. Help.
|
Yes, E-S exactly what I found. Courage, mon brave, courage.

I was tempted and tried it. The RSI in my right wrist now means that I cannot use the mouse for the rest of the day, never mind, it's only pain. The subject itself - It seems that Juan de la Cierva did not 'invent' cyclic pitch, he just developed this idea, which pre-dates helicopters by some time I would think. |

It's a paddle wheel from a European paddle steamer which manages to alter the angle of attack of the blades by all those rods, leavers, agricultural bearings and other thingys. I found the puzzle difficult because so many bits looked the same in isolation. I also found it impossible to imagine in slow motion how it all worked even at the 44 rpm (IIRC) that I counted the engine revs at. Hope that you found it equally difficult although I see that Tmac seems to have mastered it. If you solved it in less than five minutes at 100 pieces I will shout you a small jar of vegemite (perhaps that is) ........ Geoff  |
Todays offering. A one off visit to Avonmouth.
https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=1dd733d0ed0c Neville PS I have moved this thread to its correct home. |
Than you Neville. Managed it but the cat's are complaining of their dinner being late!
|
For today I am listing two. One a cargo ship and a passenger ship with a new name!

Thanks Neville.
I have cheated (as usual) in unrotating the pieces and reducing the cut to ~100. Usually takes me around 15 minutes each on this basis. Haven't done the passenger vessel yet but here is one of mine in the meantime: https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=1c9e59362ad7 It was an experimental attempt to be 'arty' using Photoshop. :jester: Fills in the time as we are locked up (or down) for at least another week here in Victoria. Geoff |
Morning Geoff,
Yes! see that everything is not rosy down under. Our cousin lives in Melbourne but not heard from him in a while. He wont be a happy bunny as he is very much into walking and exploring now he is retired. Amazed how few vaccinations have been carried out in OZ. Will have a go at the jigsaws another time. Neville |
Tug completed today.

A couple more to test you:
1st is Svitzer Ellerby and the other an aircraft landing Bristol. A clue with the aircraft is Aer Lingus. https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=38ab44d2ea4f https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=07c3149271cd Neville |
A couple more:
1st is a car carrier. 2nd an old warship. https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=1d25576fdb4f https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=2e3f027950cb Hope they are OK and keeping people amused. Neville |
Car carrier looks like Manon
|
The Aer Lingus is Eithenie, flown in her from Cork to London.
|
Sorry not Manon - named after a German legend or a opera.
