I was actually on it when every page started saying it was unavailable! Good to hear it's back.

Engine Serang 29th January 2019 09:27

No such luck.

Varley 29th January 2019 11:42

Good to hear from you again E-S. I had imagined you were making it a sort of 'dry January' posting-wise.

surveychile 29th January 2019 14:35

I have just posted six container ship photos.

Regards

Tomi.

Far from it Mr V, far from it. Just returned from a bit of a holiday, a few days in Miami and a cruise in the Caribbean.
On a big ship, like a block of flats on its side, bugger SJC and his zealots, and enjoyed every minute. No padre/chintz curtains/obsequious stewards/boring Brits or Brown Windsor Soup, very classy.
But as we say in East Antrim; It's good to be bek.

Tmac1720 30th January 2019 04:28

Feck sake I thought you were skiving off up the staft tunnel, I must have a word with Sir Billy as obviously we are paying you too much.... I hope you remembered my stick of rock. :chuckle:

Good to have you back mate, you are just in time to take over for me as I need to go ashore to deal with some personal matters. :very_sad:

Hmm, just done the same. Maybe we were afloat together!! Come to think of it, there were quite a lot of NI accents to be heard.

Engine Serang 30th January 2019 11:37

Perhaps you were on the Larne to Cairnryan ferry. On my ship the only Ulster accent was mine and the great entertainer Ian Millar from Ballymena.
Saga it was not, no Cliff Richard or Kenneth McKellar or boring talks about volcanos or Brown Windsor Soup or soggy Bread and Butter Pudding.
Three cheers for Baby Back Ribs and Key Lime Pie.

Varley 30th January 2019 12:07

British bores are exiled upon discovery to lecture upon brown Windsor soup (just as Irish exiles join missions promoting potato based pharma and urine derived lotions) but only those also properly schooled include stodgy-afters in their presentations.

(I wonder if there is also a consommé Saxe-Coburg-Gotha of any particular hue?)

Engine Serang 31st January 2019 07:42

I am led to believe you have a healthy appetite and a sweet tooth, would you settle for a cup of Earl Grey and a slice of Von Battenburg, sorry Mountbatten, cake.
Charles Philip Arthur George of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Tywysog Cymru in Manx, may join you if your flour and sugar are organic and your toilet seat is from a sustainable wood source. (Is Andrex required or will Lidl suffice?).

Indeed sounds like we were in the same neck of the woods but not the same vessel as there was no entertainer from Ballymena. Enjoyed every moment. Cheers.

I have grown away from elephant's tool and marmalade tarts a l'ecole and now have only my ownmade Christmas cake in the slimmest of slivers. Like my bread, it is made with Manx grown and milled flour, not sure if it is organic 'though. I do not even keep sugar other than for making it (so can only offer left over demerara for visitors' coffee - not than many expect to be served coffee here unless it supports a clear flame). I do eagerly look forward to the next visit of my future monarch - I can then put a match to McDonald's in the knowledge that there will be at least two suspects on the Island.

We do not have an Aldi but I am pleased to say they do deliver here FOC - well for 12 bottles it's FOC anyway.

I think the Heir's bog seat was a family joke and is in leather. My uncle did keep his old wooden one when Aunt Kate renewed his throne-top with a plastic one, as to it being organic I know not.

Are we way off thread now?

Geoff

Evolution. It took six iterations before reverting to the norm instead of three generations must be a similar law in operation.

If it remains of interest I continue not to have any problems on SN but only occasionally dip into the gallery so maybe am missing what others aren't (or perhaps I am not missing what others are if you see what I mean).

Tomi.

The content, membership, maritime experience, gallery and member knowledge of SN would be welcome anywhere but not the maintenance interest, 'after sales service', technical ability (whatever) of the site's owners.

rickles23 14th March 2019 03:55

Hi,

If your connection is still having problems try clearing your Browser Data.

In Chrome:

Top of the Browser, on the Right hand side, the button that has three dots on the extreme right.

On the Menu choose More Tools

On the next Menu choose Clear browsing data and then follow the instructions

Or Control+Shift+Delete.

surveychile 14th March 2019 15:11

I am referring to content, membership, maritime experience, gallery and member knowledge only, the other is irrelevant.
