Max number of vessels under management?
 

Sparkies forum is asking this out of interest. I have a 'news' of '81 with 64. Any advance?

I picked an old copy from the mid 70s. Just out of interest. There were about 50 ships.


Bill Harvey has done a full Fleet List. Hundreds of ships! I swear, it looks that there were six or seven ships every year, back in the 70s. The big old companies were going to thee wall and J&J were still expanding and still in business today.

The work Stephen mentioned has progressed somewhat and is now a fully illustrated Company history and set-up as an A4 size book, currently around 220 pages. It is currently with a specialist maritime publisher, being scrutinised and assessed for viability as a printed book. They have stated that if it gets the green light then the earliest release, based on their current programme would be 2023. If they decline then I will PDF it and sell on a CD or USB memory stick

I am well advanced collating the managed fleet in respect of my research for a book on Denholm (managed vessels currently stand close to 500 know of).

Managed aspects know of :- Commercial; Technical and crew. In the register books, only commercial managers were listed, making it difficult to identify all vessels in which Denholm had involvement.

I am aware by my namesake Capt. W Harvey. that after their collapse, three United States Line container vessels were managed at New York whilst in lay up and indeed have been provided with a photograph circa 1987

He told me that Denholm looked after other laid up of their fleet were looked after in other ports around the USA

My question is, Does anyone remember Vessel names, dates and locations?

Can anyone state if the following three vessels had any involvement with Denholm
TOR DANIA, TOR SCANDANAVIA and TOR BRITANNIA ?

I am still trying to confirm or otherwise if either the gas tanker or crude tanker PHILLIPS ARKANSAS was involved. The name was proffered by a now deceased fellow researcher, some time ago
