Hello Shipping History!

Hello - I just joined the site this morning having had the site highly recommended (on a similar but sadly failing website).

I come from a long line of family members who were either in the Merchant service or Shipbuilding / Marine Engineering, I am an Ex Royal Navy man (now civilian) but still very enthusiastic about all things Naval.

I have recently traced my family tree back as far as 1701 - He was a Sailor!

Looking forward dumping my kit bag somewhere and settling into Shipping History!

Hello Tom

Like you I have also just discovered this site, as I was suffering "withdrawal" symptoms (!), when the old site has had problems. Good to see so many familiar names already here.

Regards

Welcome! What kept you?

Plenty of space to stow your kit, the more the merrier.

Gents,

Thanks for the warm words of welcome - kitbag now thankfully stowed - ready for a walkround!

Hi Tom,

Great to see you have joined at last. No limit on daily postings yet, so dig out those images!

Cheers,

Roy.

A warm welcome aboard from the Philippines. Please enjoy all this great new site has to offer.

Thanks Gents, I'll need to get posting then!
Nice to see you have settled in Roy...........I have to say that I am saddened by the situation and neglect over in SN!

The management here keep a close eye on techy stuff, so it all runs smoothly. I think "the other" site had some sort of upgrade and they lost track of the Gallery somewhere in hyperspace. (A bit like a Windows update, it's all running smoothly until Microsoft decide to "make my experience better!")

Ozzie 16th June 2018 13:52

Yes agree, it will be a great pity if all those valuable historic photos and associated comments built up over the years in the SN Gallery are lost somewhere in cyberspace, but now we have two good sites to browse, providing SN somehow gets back.

Wishing SH all success

Regards
