Share the music!

I know a lot of you guys have an excellent taste in music, so I've created a thread for everyone to share their favourites via youtube ... I've enabled youtube video embedding in this forum.

Kicking us off, 15 mins of classic Dr Feelgood at the Kursaal...and by 'classic' I obviously mean Wilko was still there.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer warm up their hands with "Fanfare for the Common Man."

That still sends tingles down the spine ...and I'm not really an ELP fan, although I liked The Nice.
Sadly ELP is just down to 'P' now.

Remember you can embed the video in a post now ... just click on 'share' underneath a youtube video, then click on the 'embed' option and then copy the code and just paste that into your post on here.

cheers,
Andy

Dartskipper 22nd September 2018 19:56

Thanks for that Andy. I will do that next time.

Roy.

Written by Ewan McColl in about 1960.

Well that's old for me … of course … for you it's probably only yesterday.:big_tongue:

Tom Alexander 23rd September 2018 07:46

This is a real oldie as well -- was listening to it in the very early sixties -- probably not to everyone's taste but features an instrument that predates Morse, semaphore, International code, etc. :)

Dave McGouldrick 23rd September 2018 16:47

Hope this doesn't seem too much like 'That Modern Stuff'

That is a performer I have never heard of before, quite a sound.

Drumming, this is the African recording that I have loved for many a year.

Hi,
first off, do you know how to use copy and paste text on your pc or whatever you use?
That's a basic everyone should know to save time/effort
https://lifehacker.com/5801525/help-...-cut-and-paste

Presuming you have the hang of that. Go to the video on youtube.
Underneath the video is a button entitled 'share', click on that
Attachment 1195

Then click on the embed button
Attachment 1196

Now copy the embed code
Attachment 1197

Now come to this thread and paste the code in to your post, that's all you need do.

cheers,
Andy

This one should have been a hit, back in the day. A group of teenagers, schoolboys mostly, recorded in Joe Meek's studio above the shop in the Holloway Road.

Thanks Andy. I'll give it a go and promise I'll not inflict 'The Music and Songs of Rogers & Hart' on you all.

Les Gibson 26th September 2018 17:45

Not particularly exciting I know but still have fond memories of 'Jesamin' by The Casuals in 1968. With CP ships then and in Royal Vic docks on the Beaverpine used to frequent the mission or was it Anchor House? with the padre who was also the bouncer. This was the popular tune at the time.

Dartskipper 26th September 2018 19:09

Does this singer remind anyone else of a British politician? Sir Keir Starmer anyone?

Don't worry, even I'm having the same problem ... we will look in to it :thumb:

Andy 27th September 2018 20:07

Sadly for security reasons we've had to curtail the youtube embedding. Maybe we can come up with an alternative that will allow it to be down safely.
Cheers,
Andy

erimus 27th September 2018 20:22

Andy...can't we just copy the youtube link and not embed??

geoff

Dartskipper 27th September 2018 21:20

I tried following the embedding directions, but it would only copy and paste anyway.

I'm unable to embed YouTube code any more as I get the following error message, both using Edge and Chrome.

I'll just put the link in.

As well as shooting people (in film) Clint Eastwood can direct as well as anybody, and compose music !! He composed this for his best film I think, Million Dollar Baby.

Saturday morning music.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8I94IiNWc4

This reminds me of "Saturday Club" on the radio, and also Butlins at Clacton on Sea. (We didn't stay there, but our holiday let was well within earshot of the Butlins PA system!)

Here's another;

BobClay 9th October 2018 19:45

That link eventually led me to this, a version of which was used for the very final scene of the film Ocean's 11.
It originated in the 60's.
Hey maaaaan …. do I ever miss the 60's …

Dartskipper 9th October 2018 20:58

I was never really sure that this was a great pop song, but I do like the subject material! (My very first car I owned was a 1969 convertible one of these. I still remember the fun I had in that car when I see this video.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgoDotf4mo8

It wasn't until I drove it that I understood what the Muscle Car scene was about in the USA. I would like to have it again today, but it was a bit environmentally irresponsible in so many ways. Fuel consumption, emissions, noise, etc. etc.

Pat Kennedy 12th October 2018 20:45

Here are two versions of one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
First is the original by Double, then the cover version by Randy Crawford.
Which one do you think is best?
