Hi Shipmates

Hello to everyone.
Another marooned sailor from 'one' of the other sites, they seem to be sinking fast these days, due to various reasons.

Hope this site proves to be the one that restores my faith in human nature and the comraderie we all felt at one time.

I was referred here by a well-known lady researcher who was herself very shabbily treated on another MN site.
I also see quite a few other names I recognize on here,so it's more like rejoining one of the old ships .
My Best Regards to All Aboard Here

Good to see you have signed on.

Great to have you here Davey. Please post as much as you can, posting activity is the key to the site's success.

cheers,
Andy

Forsooth, oddboddikins davey boy, ye have seen such light shining held by a maiden in the distance in a land far north of Hadrian's wall. Haste ye up the gangway and regale us with tales of yore, welcome aboard. :quill:

Welcome aboard Davey :)

Regards
Hugh

Well wipe me down with a damp copy of Sea Breezes and call me Susan,I have found myself rescued from a virtual ,vitriolic , vengeful vassal of a vessel by this rescue ship,to whit no less ,upon scrambling aboard only to find quite a goodly few of my ' old clinging on like barnacles ' shipmates to boot !

No longer will I gloomfully be condemned to sit alone in a hot cast- adrift ,totally unmanageable craft, now where's that sea anchor?, reeking of Dunlop rubber, drifting in and out of consciousness contemplating on the utter unfairness and sheer malice and pigheadedness of other ship's crews, whilst reliving in my cranium distant long-passed and much-missed conversation, both seriously nautical and the light-hearted banter.

So to all those here, and especially from the old s.s. Hesperus ,lost somewhere between Britain and Australia. I thank thee for thy welcome, especially the fair maid of Fife ,and all I can say to her is Thank You, Fife 4,Forfar 5 as they say,or for the railway buffs, and there are quite a few you know, is that the 4.54 fast to Fife,or the 5.54 freight from Forfar?

Oh ! And well done England ! 2-0 ! just now. It's coming home you know.

Oh ,sad remembrances of the S.S. Hesperous many remembrances

RobPage 8th July 2018 10:51

S.S. Hesperous has put into port and picked up the DBS Jock Troll again , the skipper has need of him as Tiger , so he is there for the voyage

gray_marian 8th July 2018 15:05

Rob, The troll now is the least of their problems......It will soon be, Three men in a boat.

Varley 9th July 2018 00:52

Three? THREE? There are scads of the buggers on both sides, ahead and astern on every conceivable SOLAS floatable climbing aboard. They can't all be in extremis as one or two have turned down a restorative draught of Gripewater.

RobPage 9th July 2018 04:35

does the Gripewater dissolve random Trolls ?

In our experience the gripeater that Varley manufactures will dissolve just about anything -- hence the problem with packaging!! :bounce:

RobPage 9th July 2018 09:29

I will put it on a suitable saucer and see if the troll laps at it , I am assuming that as Manx based potion , the tail drops off followed by a leg

hi Gulliver
hope you are keeping well, like you I jumped ship but in my case prior to being keel hauled,
also I was pressed ganged into joining this site by the indomitable marian, as yet I have to get acquainted with any of the crew, but I hope to hear from yourself and others soon,
all the best for now

hi marian
as it is now coming upto my boat laying up season, I thought I would check out the site and see whom was active, Guliver obviously has made his mark, sadly the rest of the crew that I was always pleased to read up on have not made a appearance here yet.
but as always im pleased to receive your anecdotal emails as they give rise to a burp or it could be a grin or sometimes the odd burst of laughter when opened.

A warm welcome aboard from the Philippines Davey. Please enjoy all this great site has to offer. But go easy on the Gripetini till you get used to it.

King Ratt 9th November 2019 13:02

I have been a member of both SH and SN for years. Recently needed to set up new password for the latter. Many many attempts failed so I have chucked it in. Having to reset password for SH took seconds. What a difference.

Regards to all

Hello and welcome KR. I am a member of SN and also BMN friends, or rather I was and dropped out for some reason. I could not get back in. I would just like to converse with a real person to get back. I gave up on BMN for the same reason as you. Cheers mate.

Thanks for your welcome. I tried once again to re enter SN but no joy. I will call it a day now. Shame really because there are some good posters on there.

Cheers
