The site at Otley must have been where all the little Telewag poles were planted in the field, I presume? Been past Millions of times, about 1 mile away from our 'ouse.

Happy days but rather cold in winter.

FJ,

Not certain of where it was located just that it was there at sometime/s. There I believe during WW2.
Don't know if it is mentioned on either of the sites I posted.

Chris,

Cold and under fed most of the time. Beans on toast a gourmet delight. Down to the Cafe near the Monarch for a sausage roll - if we could afford one. Now that is something to tax the memory - the name of the Cafe and the name of the owner of the tobacconists who used to sell us even one ciggy when we were desperate. Afraid I cannot remember the names but the location is still in the memory bank.
Talking of the Monarch Hotel - still there by the way - I always said I would stay there one day. After my first trip I did go and stay there and it was OK

I may well make a nostalgic visit in July as heading north to Morpeth to visit a friend so may make a detour on the way home to see how it looks now. My last visit a few years back around 2002 not much had changed.

Sally's Cafe in the basement of the hotel on the seafront ?
Not sure who runs it now.
I was in Brid at the eastern end of The Way of the Roses last summer.:)

Just looked up the Way of the Roses. Wow, that's interesting ... (Games of Thrones fans will be delighted.) :D

Chris,

Yes that sounds like it. Amazing it still has the name.

A 4 day cycle ride! Looks good but I have not ridden a bike for so many years now. Too dangerous with the traffic etc.

Just to clarify, Got wrong address, Sally's cafe is no longer, it now appears to be part of a seafront apartment block. I totally mistook the area it was in when we finished the ride (knackered - needless to say)
Sorry - a victim of old age. The Life boat station is still where it was though !
