good day - i have never served on the high seas in any capacity - but have done a few cruises and been around the block - so to speak - have been an avid ship lover for high on 56 years of my life - now approaching - 65 - i am somewhat amused by the term ships tiger ? what is it meant to mean and what are the functions of said person

many thanks

Ships Tiger

The ships Tiger was the Captain's personal Stewart

Some real characters amongst them- Captain's Tigers. Usually excellent stewards.

I thought it was the name on the beer cans.

Yes, the Master's personal Steward. Always knew what time to wake him and what to take him for his breakfast, never cold, always just right!

A hark back to different times and customs.

Rgds.
