The mrmsw site is worth looking at.
There are some interesting stories written by ex radio officers on there. Two are about British Monarch, Monarch Shipping line, in 50s when the 2nd mate was lost overboard in pacific for 12 hours. 2/Eng at time was Victoria Drummond. Freddiethefrog has a SOS story on there too. One of the SOS stories written by ex R/O is about a ship in Atlantic convoy. |
Not getting any joy with that link ....

Link expired

Lucy,
As the other have said the link is not valid and domain is no longer. Neville |
Worth a look also is this
http://www.seefunknetz.de/ The British Monarch story is on there somewhere I think. David + |
Sri about that.
The site was working in March 2017 when I read fredfythefrog's aka John's SOS story. The site changed from its previous one in 2014 with a shortened name after radio museum moved from Fort Perch. I have emailed Stan M to see if it has been changed again now they have moved from Planet lightship to a tug moored in Liverpool. |
Don't give up on that site. It is supposed to be active. I had email reply back from Stan M (ex Marconi man).
I checked myself and you are correct , I have only just renewed the fee. I have asked M*****a to check it out. Many thanks, NB M*****a is the lady who looks after site for him. |
They mrmsw site which had expired has now been restored by its owner Stan M. and is up and running.
There are several stories written by ex R/Os on there if you click on stories on left hand menu. |
Lucy,
I have deleted the comment about the site not being in operation. Looks a good site and worth checking out. Neville |
Thanks for that.
I have suggested to Stan that he gets permission from Mike R who wrote the Tectus SOS story to put his LST story on the mrmsw site. The ship wasnt in SOS situation, but the radio officer was, and in imminent danger of getting his head sliced off when trying to fix a remote P.G. island's only much treasured transistor radio. |
Some good yarns there.
|
If you go the the above site and click on news label in left menu, there are some interesting articles including a
'To whom it might concern' by Stan Macnally. |
|
Nope....dead
|
The MRMSW site run/owned by Stan Macnally, ex Marconi, is now up and running again.
