Hello Everyone!
My name is Bob Smith - I went to sea when I was 16 - I first attended the Sea Training School, Gravesend, as a catering boy. Spent five years (1960-65) on P&O passenger ships first as a bell boy and ended up as a Public Room Steward. I worked on the Arcadia, Iberia, Stratheden, Chathay, and Chitral. In 1965 I left P&O and went to work for the Post Office, London, as a telephone engineer. Came to the states, got married and settled down. Now retired and thinking about writing a memoir. Would like to contact any old shipmates or others who had served on the same ships or had similar experiences as a working-class kid leaving a secondary modern school going to sea looking for adventure.
Cheers, Bob |
Welcome aboard Bob.
Have a look around. I think you might be in the right place. |
Nice introduction, Bob. Welcome aboard.
My schooling was the original, one and only, Technical Comprehensive school in England. Formerly Wallasey Technical Grammar, then the Mosslands School. I am a former engineer with Ocean T&T/Blue Funnel. Best Regards, Dave Mexico City. |
