The Jungle Bar

Does anyone remember The Jungle Bar in Port Swettenham (Port Kelang as it is now)? A choice establishment with all the luxuries one would expect - no air conditioning, open sewer running through it (or close by at any rate) and warm beer too. The children sized stools gave quality seating. An experience not to be missed!:pint:

Thought you were going to mention the one in North Shields!

The ones in Surabaya...........!

The Sierra Leoneon crew had promised to buy me a beer or two. I agreed to meet them, around 2000 in the "Jungle Bar".

Off the ship, found a trishaw at the dock gate, "number 1 reliable". Then off to "the Jungle Bar", three of us aboard.

Out of the city, into the wilds, the Malaysian jungle! Had this been a good idea?

Then, a glimmer of light and a whole street of mixed structures. "Which Jungle Bar?" asked our trishaw man.

It turned out that there were nearly thirty. So, we started out at No.1 and finally found the crew at number 18 or so! More stories here, but...........

And yes, our trishaw driver was waiting for us and dropped us back off at the dock gate as planned! No.1 driver, definitely, as recommended by the Agent.

Rgds.
