American graffiti - modesto cal
 

In June I had the pleasure to be in Modesto California where the - American Graffiti - car show was happening. 1400 plus vehicles of all types, it was excellent. I have attached the link to the web site and also some of the cars.

British cars as well! I've not seen a Mk 7 Jag for years.
The 'styling feature' that I really hated about the Jags of that series was the panel over the back wheels that had to be removed before changing a wheel. The Oddie clips holding it on were usually rusty and covered in mud.

That model of Corvette reminds me of the Route 66 series rather than the American Graffiti film.

There were a few other UK/European cars. MGB - VW and others which have slipped the memory. A fantastic experience and some of the paint work was amazing.

The one on the left is a Packard. Next is a Ford Thunderbird. The next one might be a Plymouth? The ladder truck could be any Fire Engine manufacturer. Last of all, the Indian Head ornament suggested a Pontiac Chieftan, but I don't think it is. However, in the background is a Pontiac Firebird, the 1969 model I think. I once owned its larger brother, a 1969 Pontiac GTO ragtop.

That looks like fun. I went to something vaguely similar in a place called Oshawa about one hour East of Toronto a couple of years ago. The husband of the friends we were staying owned a Corvette in the attached photo and we drove it to the car show. Not quite sure of the year (late 60s?) but it was a fun experience. Owning one of these has never much appealed to me but I love looking at them.

You were right not to be sure of the last one Roy. It's a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 and the 'egg-crate' grill with marker lights gave it away for me. So many US cars of that time had similar hood ornaments and not easy to distinguish head-on.
The Plymouth has the (sort of) 'teardrop' headlamps but not as bold as on all Ford models back then.
