Trump muses that he will levy a tax on all Chinese built ships entering American ports. That will certainly sort out their trade inbalance issues!

Were he to enforce this it would cause a great big problem for the biggest Canadian "Lakes " company, Algoma, as most of their recently new builds were from China. Other countries were involved too, but not one was built in Canada.
Sad as once all their boats were built here.

By the way, Canda has it within its realm to seriously hurt tge US more than it is now. Canada provides electricity to 9 US States, US oil refineries are built for heavy oil, Canada provides the vast majority of heavy oil to the states. Most of the natural gas used in the states is imported from Canada. Most of the lumber for their home construction comes from Canada. Steel and Aluminum much is imported from Canada. Slap a 75% export tax on ALL of the items or shut exports off of those goods to the states. Yes it would hurt Canada but no where near the pain the States would feel.

Ireland and, I believe, Canada are making citizens travelling to USA consider getting a Burner Phone.
