The same with the Beach Boys. The only good cover version of their song "Don't Worry Baby", was done by Lorrie Morgan, but even that had the BBs backing her. On the same album and documentary, Kathy Troccoli did a cover of "I Can Hear Music", which I thought improved the original but again, backed by the BBs.

The Beach Boys "Surfin' USA" was a musical copy with different words of Chuck Berry's "Sweet Li'l Sixteen." Both big hits in their day.
