I was with Ellermans from 1970 to 1980 as cadet through to 2nd Mate when I was made redundant.
Recognised at least one name on this thread and as well as other City ships also I was on aforementioned Carchester for just under a year.
After Ellermans I went to Salvesens and then few years later came ashore in nautical education.
