Appeal for a human carrier pigeon travelling from Liverpool to North Devon that can transport an old bridge pipe. It has been offered for donation by Stan Macnally (ex Marconi) and co from Liverpool for S.S. Freshspring which is berthed alongside quay at Bideford North Devon. The bridge pipe lives in Liverpool at present.
Torridge council have recently awarded a grant to Freshspring Society (on top of two grants from Lottery Heritage fund in last 18 months) This grant from Torridge means the wheel house can be refurbished and Freshspring is due to be opened officially to the public Spring 2018.
When she was alongside in Bristol, near S.S. Great Britain, she was stripped of various wheel house gear including ship's telegraph. This was before she was moved to Newnham on Severn for many years before being bought by John Puddy from Freshspring society.
