I had a look though a very old CV I have from the 80s and these were my yearly pay scales
1974 MOD Mechanical fitter £2,000
1984 Denholms 3/E £10,000
1985 Swecal 2/E £14,000
1986 Blandford Drilling 2/E £24,000
Going into the drilling industry was a no brainer for me.
