The first plane I flew in; from Southampton to Jersey. 1958. My mate's dad worked for BR and got free travel including the boat-trains. His family went to Jersey every year in the hols but this time he wanted to fly across so asked me to go with him. £6 return.
The plane inside seemed very luxurious but what I remember most, was the bouncing along the grass runway at take-off - quite exciting for a lad of 14. Mind you, me being more interested in ships I'd rather have gone by ferry. My mam and dad preferred camping for hols!!!!!.......
