I was on Vancouver Island in 1974 when my ship, Arcadia(1954 build)went into dry dock at Esquimalt. We flew home on leave crossing over to the mainland by ferry. That was a wonderful trip far better, and cheaper than crossing from the Isle of Wight to the mainland
