While on leave from a tramp ship, some time in the early 1960's, I came out of a bank having just drawn out some cash for a night out in Manchester. On the opposite side of the road was parked a white Daimler Dart with 'Police' signs front and back, top down, with a very attractive, blonde-haired, young policewoman sitting in the passenger seat. Standing at the rear of the car, searching for something in the boot/trunk was a police constable of about my age.
Sunny day, open sports car, spending the day with a blonde in the passenger seat and being paid for it! I remember thinking that I had made the wrong career choice.
I don't know if the car belonged to the Lancashire or the Manchester force but I was jealous.
