I sailed with Joe aboard the "Moraybank" on his first trip to sea. There were four apprentices. Ron Kreamer was 'Senior' with whom I shared a cabin and the other was Jim Dudley who shared with Joe.
The master was John Townsley and 3rd Mate Derek William Dudley Pitt both of whom are no longer with us.
I am still in touch with Ron Kreamer. We both sailed together again with the United Baltic Corporation (UBC) in the same order of seniority, he as 1st Mate and me as 2nd.
Joe had a very successful and fulfilling life ashore becoming a dealership manager in the motor trade. He had a lovely wife and both shared the love of music. They were both members of choirs, Jo in a 'barber shop' style, which gave them a lot of pleasure. They had two sons and two grand children. Happy memories of long ago...

I completely lost touch with Jim Dudley and would ne interested if anyone has news of him.
