You have to be careful with those Greeks, not quite as clever as they would have you believe.

Aristarchus proposed that the planets orbited the Sun long before Copernicus but he was ignored in favour of Aristotelian excreted brown matter for more than a millennia.

Hippasus declared the existence of 'irrational numbers,' (think of them as a number that you can't actually write down other than using a symbol) and for his efforts the Pythagoreans threw him over the side of the ship.

Or so they say.

They should have stuck to building wooden horses and somehow getting the blame for introducing nasties inside your firewall stuck with the victims.
