I was Super for a number of ships including a 89.99 metre Shipyard Peters "Ice Runner" multi purpose ship. This had, to me, an unusual electric set-up. A shaft generator, a ships generator and an emergency generator.
On passage the shaft generator was used, manoeuvring had the shaft generator dedicated to the bow thruster and the ships generator carrying the ships load and the emergency generator was only capable of carrying the emergency load. Very little or no redundancy and me with a notebook full of "What If's".
