The 'surprise' was the 'Engine Room Bar' and what a surprise it was!
The fire-place consisted of a Howden furnace-front with pressure-gauges and other articles, you would get in an engine-room, on the bulkheads, (walls!!), and in various positions around the bar.
A memorable visit!
Doubtless all has gone now as it would be meaningless to the modern generation.

Well, I think I remember the name but not the detail you describe Phil. I was working quite a lot in the area in the early '80s so that's very remiss of me
