I relieved the regular sparks on an Isle of Man ferry, at short notice.
I took the morse shipping forecast and after typing it up, took it out to the bridge where the captain was. He took one look at it, threw it in the rosie with a comment 'What a load of rubbish'
He had a little (about 8") tv propped in the bridge window and had a small transistor radio turned into the Irish station RTE. He was about 6-8hrs ahead of the one that I had brought out for him.
I soon learned. Didn't bother again!
