That is without doubt true but one of my trusty reference books is 'Flags, Funnels and Hull Colours' of 1963 and that is very useful for some of the companies that you are not quite so sure about. Blueys, P&O etc are obvious but it is useless if a British ship has been sold on with some unpronounceable name under the Panamanian flag. Used it for one of yesterdays clues and fell flat.
