Just had anther glance at my post after many years and came across Tim's query re swapping rotors port to starboard.
I believe it was normal practice to have the shafts of twin screw ships turning in opposite directions, ie. handed. This prevents side to side rotor swaps on geared turbines. As always, there could be exceptions!
