WW1 ship name and picture sought
I am researching the history of my great-uncle who was killed at Lone Pine, Gallipoli in November 1915. He sailed from Australia to Egypt in June 1915 aboard HMAT "Ceramic" (A40). After training he next sailed from Egypt to Lemnos Island aboard the S.S. "Nile". He then headed to Gallipoli aboard a Khedivial Mail Line vessel. Various sources have spelt it "Abbasiah", "Abbasia" and "Abbazia". It might possibly be "Abbassich".
Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks Colin |
