I will now bow out gracefully as you are talking NEW style tugs not antiquated twin screw conventional as they were in the 60's early 70's.

Depends if you like a challenge! There again when manoeuvring a large ship at a speed around 6 to 8 knots then the indirect method works fine with Voiths or ASDs. Something that would take a lot longer with a conventional twin screw tug towing over the stern. I recall on a conventional twin screw tug using a 3" wire over the bow and backed up on bitts on the shoulder of a large vessel and pulling her round by coming astern. This seemed just as efficient as the modern tugs methods.
