Problem....

Is anyone else having problems connecting to the 'other' (SN) site?
I keep getting the 'connection has timed-out' message. Same on 3 separate browsers & have tried everything I can think of!
Cheers & TIA for any info!
Mike.

Thanks for replies......I'm using W10/Firefox....can get into all other sites except SN. 3 different PCs, all the same. Also tried Edge & Opera, same result....have flushed caches etc., tried with firewall & A-V off too, no change! Same prob on another PC with Win7. Interesting - will keep on trying!
Thanks again.
Mike.

Mike, do you use some sort of proxy server for your internet connection, because that seems remarkable to me that a particular site is being blocked on different computers with different browsers. That suggests it is being selected for blockage by your Internet Service ....

Well, STRANGE!
Thanks for yours Bob......I went into Firefox's 'options' to again check if I was on a proxy. 'No proxy' was already selected. Exited, tried again to connect to SN &, it all worked! Beats me (doesn't take much to do that these days), & all seems ok again after 3 days of frustration.
Just a BTW, but I also went to SN's 'home' (verticalscope or something similar) & got the same 'time out' msg on every link that I tried there. Odd, but thanks to all, esp Bob who's posting about the proxy seemed to trigger the cure!

Mike.

Further FYI, for anyone interested, problem returned an hour or so after I posted the above. Suspect problem in my (ADSL) modem. Further tests later on, including using a Linux PC.

Progress (I think, and hope!).

My A/V program is AVG & in it's Settings there is an entry 'Secure DNS'. Switching this to OFF seems to allow me to access SN.

Hope this may help someone in the future.

Bob, you were spot-on with your DNS suspicions...Thanks for keeping me on the right path (computer-wise, anyway!). We live & learn, though at my (our?) age its hard to remember what I've learned, or even why I've learned it!
Cheers.
Mike.
