Rest in Peace Sanan, the diver who gave up his life in the cave saving the children.

Amen to that. Wonderful outcome for which this man gave his life. I feel sure he will be honoured for his sacrifice.

The Thai government have already stated that they will erect a statue at the caves in his memory.

Just like that - No petitions, no campaigns, no whip round, just do it.

And jolly good too!

If he was a Buddhist, I am not sure that RIP is what he would want. I would hope that his sacrifice might move him up the eternal wheel.

I really am not trying to be clever or belittle his sacrifice or his families loss we all know what is meant.

He was an expert and a professional, and he would have been fully aware of the risks but confident that he could overcome them just as all of the other divers would have been but, sadly, just one mischance......He was not alone; there were a lot of very courageous people involved but he was the one that sacrificed all. I hope that his family in mourning their loss can gain solace from the reality that thirteen children are alive and well today because he and others put their lives on the line to save them. RIP Sanan Gunan.

RIP Sanan Gunan, I wonder if his death might have been the saving in some way for those kids, he might have used a smaller tank or the likes, enough to change the method of rescue.
