How or for what, exactly, do you imagine the chief's bottom would be set.

Listen you scurvy wretches my bottom set of gnashers are of the finest stainless steel manufactured by my own fair paw in the Harland and Bluff foundry and riveted along the gum line. These days my bite may not be as bad as my bark but nevertheless I can still give a very severe suck to any miscreant.

Mr V have no concerns as regards the gyro compass as I chucked it over the rail last night after stubbing my big toe on the ruddy thing. The compass repair wallah was fortunate to be AWOL as otherwise the whole assembly would have found its way into his stern gland.

One must confess to being somewhat surprised by the knowledge that ES is known to the FBI, I wasn't aware he knew any Feckin Big Indians as he is rather parochial in his geographical explorations. Sandy Row, Shankill Road and York Street being his usual limitations.

Not helpful chief. The techie left the Huawok in the little dome thingie pointed at Hotbird instead of Inmarsat. Without the gyro I cannot re-aim to get Goonhilly (of fond memory) and it'll have to remain locked on to Al Jazeera. At least they have not followed the BBC and dropped the MN Programme. They have their own version - 'Jihadists work dhows' (for the fighting sailor they also have 'alQaeda burn dhows'. Better than a Walport box with the last reels missing. I'll get it piped to the ECDIS. Better it's used for entertainment than to let our deck crowd take it for a spin.

(I have to say that the chief is being politically incorrect. Jolly rotund first nation persons is surely what he meant to say).

Hmmm. as one appears to have a licence to roam. Perhaps one would be kind enough to roam along our shaft tunnels and check our stern glands. Preferably before Tmac comes down from his funnel suite where he has been drawing up a new maintenance schedule.

I think we all have the licence to roam but after Brakes-it, roaming might be very expensive. Just take the boy down the tunnel with you and send him back up with a message.

Well, get the boy to lead the oxter back when he brings the dispatch. Can't expect laddie to clear strums of ethnic slurry and tend the livestock at the same time - suggest pronto-pronto, megger readings tend to change when level reaches the overhang (for vertically mounted I suppose that could be the underhang) no amount of buggering aboutery will then avoid a rewind. And don't talk to me about IP67 - Varley's first law of electricity at sea: There is no such thing as deck watertight.

Rubbish.

As 3/E on the Regent Falcon I was also Lecky for an Inter Regnum few weeks and I am unanimous in the belief that a big roll of Denso Tape has an IP rating of 10 million.

Of course it's not.

Oh what a travesty it is
To see a plumber at lecky's biz
A good repair he cannot ape
preferring miles of insulting tape.

Selecting tape of the lecky kind
Search their specs with that in mind
Denso's big on rust protection
That's Fck all good for earth prevention

(Well, not very good anyway, I'd nonetheless be happy with it wrapped round my kitchen ceiling strip light. It's been out of operation since the Autumn rains started, as they are stopping only when they have drained though the luminaire onto the table beneath. Aren't dehumidifiers wonderful, the damp has never reached my uppers even in the worst downpours).

I have some whirly vents on our steel roof (like you see on factory roofs) If the rain is of the monsoon type then we also have leaks. Billyboys ingenuity steps in and now I have (home made I might add) a steel tray under each one with a drain tube leading to outside. Quite musical at times as each steel tray has a different sound. A heavy monsoon and its like Alexanders rag time band.

At least you know where it is coming in. All I know is where it is coming out!

I wonder if you might stretch your skills beyond steel trays (much though a welding opportunity is to be welcomed) and consider motorising the whirly vents and controlling them with a rain detector. On recognising rain they would start up and throw off the water like a clear-view screen. Of course there might be the risk of them vacuuming up much of the contents of the bijou res. (pets, ready-meals, flagons of the foaming, guests etc.) and hurling it, creatively mandolined, about the neighbourhood. By dint of giving each variable speed drives it might also be feasible to produce something more tuneful than rag time.

Who wants George Chisholm cavorting on the flat roof.

A gentlemans roof is moderately pitched and clad with Bangor Blues, last a lifetime. Why one would require an FD Fan on the roof is beyond my comprehension but if one is using the Aga to bake industrial quantities of soda bread it may be necessary. Xpelair may suffice.

A lady on Irish radio yesterday told the story of how her car wouldn't start. She called the AA and it was discovered that a Pine Martin (me neither) had got in behind the dashboard and had eaten all the wiring insulation and other vitals. Big to-do with the insurance company.
I think the Pine Martin has been wronged and that Tmax is responsible. I don't know if he chews on neoprene but his 2 ferrets do and their little presents on the bottom plates are very bouncy. Guilty as Owen Paterson.

Normal rains no problem. But heavy rain bounces off the coloroof sheets and gets into the whirlys and we have 4 of them. above our ceiling it gets very hot up there. My fault as I forgot to get the construction company to put insulation.
